Customer satisfaction and safety are top priorities at Polygon Company. Part of that commitment is providing you with information regarding the products we manufacture and sell.
Our products, when used for their intended application, pose no health or physical hazard and are classified as “articles” as defined by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration’s (OSHA) Hazard Communication Standard. Our products are not considered to be or to contain hazardous chemicals.
Articles are exempt from the requirement of publishing s. Title 29 of the Code of Federal Regulations, Section 1910.1200 (amended), specifically states that it does not apply to articles. An article is defined in the standard as follows:
“Article means a manufactured item, other than a fluid or particle: (i)Which is formed to a specific shape or design during manufacture; (ii)which has end use function(s) dependent in whole or in part upon its shape or design during end use; and (iii) which under normal conditions of use does not release more than very small quantities, e.g., minute or trace amounts, of a hazardous chemical and does not pose a physical hazard or health risk to employees.”
All Polygon Company products meet the "Article" definition.
With regards to post fabrication or machining of our products listed above, we recommend machine operators wear gloves and protective masks. The machining process generates dust which can be an irritant. We also recommend “flooding” the product with cutting fluid during the machining process to limit the amount of airborne particles.
Exposing our products to excessive heat or open flame can cause volatiles to be emitted. Excessive heat would be defined as greater than 300 °C. As long as the continuous heat exposure is below the stated Tg for the material there will be no volatiles released.
We hope this satisfies your needs. If more information is required, or if you have additional questions, please call 1-800-918-9261 or contact us.
